JEOL-6700 Field-Emission SEM/SEI/BEI
JEOL-6700 Field-Emission SEM/SEI/BEI

The scanning electron microscope (SEM) operates based on the imaging principle of using an electron beam with an energy range of 5 to 30 kV to scan the surface of the specimen. It receives signals generated from the surface, including secondary electrons, backscattered electrons, absorbed electrons, X-rays, etc., to display images of the specimen. Its extended depth of field provides a true and convenient observation of the three-dimensional microstructures on the surface of the object. In addition to the SEM, an Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS) system can be attached, allowing the analysis of the chemical composition and content of the sample based on the X-rays emitted from the surface of the specimen after electron bombardment.

Our center provides two different diameter specimen holders. Please prepare your specimens with pre-processing actions. The maximum sampling diameter should not exceed 25mm, and the maximum height should be 10mm. Please ensure that your samples adhere to these specifications and do not exceed the given limits.

12.5( dia .)×10(H)mm specimen
-
26( dia .)×10(H)mm specimen
Our center provides conductive carbon tape and copper tape for fixing specimens. Additionally, blank optical discs are available for storing experimental data. The cost of optical discs is not included and will be charged separately.
Notes
1. Specimens must not contain toxic, corrosive, volatile, magnetic, moisture-sensitive, or low-melting-point materials, as well as organic polymers.
2. If the specimens are non-conductive materials (such as non-metals, ceramics, etc.), our center offers sputtering (Pt) services at an additional cost.
3. If machine malfunctions occur due to improper human operation, and this happens two or more times, the certification for that individual's reservation will be immediately revoked, and their reservation rights will be suspended for one month. After one month, they must undergo recertification, and only upon passing the recertification, they will be issued an operating license.
4. If severe machine malfunctions or damages occur due to improper human operation, the certification for that individual's reservation will be immediately revoked, and their reservation rights will be suspended for six months. After six months, they must undergo recertification, and only upon passing the recertification, they will be issued an operating license.
5. Certified individuals, who operate the machine without prior reservation for experiments and are found to do so two or more times, will have their certification revoked immediately. Their reservation rights will be suspended for one month, and after one month, they must undergo recertification. Only upon passing the recertification, they will be issued an operating license.
6. Certified individuals, who operate the machine without prior reservation for experiments and cause machine malfunctions, will have their certification revoked immediately, and their reservation rights will be suspended for six months. After six months, they must undergo recertification, and only upon passing the recertification, they will be issued an operating license.
7. Certified individuals, who operate the machine without prior reservation for experiments and cause severe machine malfunctions or damages, will have their certification revoked immediately, and they will not be allowed to apply for recertification.
8. Individuals who operate the machine without certification will have their reservation rights canceled for six months if found doing so.
9. If specimens are not properly pre-treated, or if improper pre-treatment results in contamination of the machine's vacuum, our center cannot provide service.
10. Due to experimental needs, changes in machine parameters such as working distance, specimen holder rotation, etc., require prior permission from the research assistant before being altered. If changes are made without permission and this happens two or more times, certification will be canceled.
11. If changes in machine parameters, such as working distance or specimen holder rotation, are made without permission and lead to machine malfunctions or damages, certification will be canceled, and reservation rights will be suspended for six months. After six months, they must undergo recertification, and only upon passing the recertification, they will be issued an operating license.
- Please ensure that specimens are pre-treated and fixed on the holder. The maximum sampling diameter should not exceed 25 mm, and the maximum height should be 10 mm.
- If specimens are non-metallic, our center offers sputtering (Pt) services.
